  • Sylvia Tyson is a Canadian musician, performer, singer-songwriter and broadcaster. Tyson’s impact on popular culture has been immeasurable. A pillar of the Greenwich Village folk scene from the late ’50s through the ’60’s as half of the groundbreaking Ian & Sylvia, the duo headlined NYC’s Carnegie Hall and topped the Billboard charts, all while championing Village contemporaries Bob Dylan and Gordon Lightfoot by being the first popular artists to record their songs. Moreover, Tyson’s own song “You Were On My Mind” and Ian’s “Four Strong Winds” became standards that were covered by dozens of popular artists. Throughout the sixties and early seventies, Ian & Sylvia produced thirteen popular albums and toured extensively in North America and Europe, sharing their manager, Albert Grossman, with such luminaries as Bob Dylan, Peter Paul and Mary, The Band, and Janis Joplin. The duo were equally influential in the country genre with their band Great Speckled Bird.

She has been a member of the all-female folk group Quartette since 1993 and was made a member of the Order of Canada in 1994. She was nominated seven times for a Juno Award, the first being in 1987 as Country Female Vocalist of the Year. In 2003, she was inducted into the Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame.

  • Note for note, Marc Ford ranks as one of the world’s preeminent guitarists. Even so, his songcraft commands the utmost respect. Keyboardist Johnny Neel once said: “Marc Ford’s an actual genius. He has the best guitar sound I’ve ever heard.” Ford’s career began in Los Angeles during the 1980s. His group, Burning Tree, captured the essence of his guitar virtuosity and songwriting. He joined the Black Crowes in late 1991. Ford toured and recorded on three of the Crowes’ finest albums--The Southern Harmony and Musical Companion, Amorica, and Three Snakes and One Charm. Ford’s tenure in the Crowes found the group operating at a zenith.

He rejoined the Crowes in 2005-2006 when they toured and released The Lost Crowes--two albums the band never released when he was a member. In 2002, Ford released his first solo album, It’s About Time. Ford’s following solo albums included Weary And Wired (2007), The Fuzz Machine (2010) and Holy Ghost (2014). Artists he produced include Ryan Bingham, Pawnshop Kings, Steepwater Band, Chris Lizotte, Phantom Limb and Republique du Salem. Marc Ford exists as a musical architect of the highest order. Through his career Marc Ford has performed and recorded with Izzy Stradlin, Gov’t Mule, The Jayhawks, Federale, Widespread Panic, Blue Floyd, Booker T. Jones, Ivan Neville and Heartbreaker Mike Campbell. It’s harvest time for Marc Ford. Over the years he’s created his own stellar sound that meets all the rigid standards of excellence

  • Thanks to Martin Scorsese’s extraordinary cinematic vision and related talent, millions worldwide have experienced the musical magic that was The Last Waltz. Bill Avis is on another level. He lived and breathed what transpired that magical November night in 1976, bearing witness as Robbie Robertson, Rick Danko, Levon Helm, Richard Manuel and Garth Hudson bade farewell as an entity. Avis well earned his side stage place that night, having served as a roadie with The Band before becoming the group’s road manager. Today, an original Last Waltz poster is displayed proudly in Avis’ Peterborough home. One could surmise it brings back special memories for Avis but that’s assuming those memories left at some point. They have not nor will they. Ever.-

On the front of the well-worn bass drum belonging to Jerome Levon Avis is a photo of his eight-year-old self, intently practicing drum licks on a baseball glove under the watchful eye of his godfather. Nothing too out of the ordinary…except his mentor is Levon Helm. After years of learning at Helm’s knee, Avis played with him and The Band on occasion in the 1990s. Since 2010, Bill Avis and Son Productions, with multi-awarded keyboardist and producer Lance Anderson, have brought The Last Waltz: A Musical Celebration of the Band to audiences across Canada. In 2012, when Helm passed, father and son were among a select few invited to his private service in Woodstock, New York. Avis’ recollections of his godfather’s kindnesses and love have left him with a treasure trove of wonderful memories and, on occasion, tears, almost always accompanied by the remembrance “Levon was a beautiful soul…I miss him.”

  • After years of playing a circuit of R&B clubs and events and speakeasies in the Pacific Northwest, Don Stevenson trekked down to the Bay Area in the summer of ’65. He’d recently joined The Frantics. The following summer he co-founded the iconic San Francisco band, Moby Grape. Playing ballrooms, like The Fillmore and Avalon, the Grape instantly became the darlings of the Bay Area, and the object of a massive bidding war. In the early weeks of ’67 the fivesome shuffled between San Fran and LA with record company executives from Columbia, Atlantic, and Elektra elbowing each other out of the way, with contracts and pens in hand. Signing with Columbia, Moby Grape recorded their debut in handful of sessions in the spring of ’67. The album came out a few days after Pepper and a couple of weeks later, the Grape played a killer set at the Monterey Pop Festival.

As a songwriting-singing drummer, Don Stevenson was a trailblazer, opening the door for the likes of Levon Helm and Don Henley. Moby Grape’s self-titled LP isn’t just one of the best debuts in history, it’s one of the best albums ever cut. It’s now over half a century after those heady days and today Stevenson is putting out his third solo album, Limited Engagement—Volume 1. Produced by Jamie Collins and featuring such talent as Tim Bovaconti (Burton Cummings Band), Dane Clark (John Mellencamp Band), and Dale Ockerman (Doobie Brothers), the album includes 11 stellar tracks tapping into all the genres Moby Grape explored so many years ago.

With another dozen tracks in the can, Stevenson’s next album is right around the corner and he’s looking into the past, present, and future all at once. At 82, Don Stevenson has every bit as much energy as those two generations younger and you’ll witness this when his band hits the stage at Massey Hall. Having shared the bill with the likes of Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Steve Miller, The Byrds, BB King, Buddy Guy, Sly Stone, and a host of others, Don Stevenson is no stranger to event concerts, like Chest Fever. Prepare to be bowled over by a seasoned icon.

The band doesn’t shy away from nostalgia and pulls influence from artists such as Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers, Neil Young, The Band and Fleetwood Mac. • Powered by soaring sister harmonies, this quirky trio's unbottled chemistry quickly connects them to their audience. Renée Coughlin, Noelle Frances Coughlin, and Hillary Watson are the three distinct lead singers/songwriters of The Pairs. Together they offer a unique blend of music with stories of life's hope, hilarity, and hardship. These classically trained vocalists blur the line between the stage and the crowd as if we've pulled up a seat around their family's lively kitchen table. This award-winning group has been touring internationally in Canada, the USA, and Europe since 2022 and will release their third studio album titled, "When Will We Find Our Way?" in October 2023.

This group’s founding members were born two months and two days apart from one another to mothers who are best friends. Renée and Noelle are identical twins, and their chosen sister Hillary is also a twin. Since their birth, they’ve been part of one another’s lives and have been singing around campfires, and kitchen counters for as long as they can remember. After spending most of their youth and adolescent years as part of large choral ensembles they each ventured down their separate paths, taking up work as activists, farmers, and teachers, embedding themselves within other community projects. In 2015 they came back together around music making, their own little form of group therapy, and in 2016 they named themselves The Pairs and began an honest pursuit of a musical career.

  • With roots in church choir harmonies and songwriting prowess built on an art-rock adolescence, it’s not so surprising that Rebekah Hawker ultimately found herself at the intersection of country and folk. Hawker embraces the full spectrum of "country,"—from John Prine's lore-spinning to Linda Ronstadt's honeyed vocals, Kacey Musgraves' resilient sheen, and the vulnerability of Edwards. Hawker’s latest single “Ticket” is a classic midtempo country song about two things that never go out of style, in any genre: broken hearts and broken dreams. She sings of bastards and radio play, social media and getting ghosted, but flips the script in a canny way, declaring a positive outlook despite the rest: “I’m satisfied with the long shot / I’ve got a ticket.” To have hope is better than the alternative. “You’re on your own,” she says, “deciding that this thing has worth.”

In 2020 Rebekah’s song ‘Catch You’ won Folk Music Ontario’s Songs from the Heart award and in 2022 she was selected as an official showcasing artist at their annual conference. She was recently selected as a participant in the 2023 RBC x Launchpad Music Entrepreneurship Program.

  • Skye Wallace missed the turnoff for fitting into a box a long time ago.

With a voice like a soaring instrument, unflinching lyricism, and a swaggering live show shaped by years on the road, Skye Wallace is a singular force on a mission to melt faces and elevate heart rates.

Touring with respected rock acts like Matt Mays and Crown Lands and opening for international names like Tori Amos and Television, Skye and her high-voltage backing band have achieved cult-following status under the dim light of bars and clubs all over the world.

It is with brand new head-turning single Tough Kid that Skye Wallace makes their production debut alongside award-winning co-producer and collaborator, Hawksley Workman. Tough Kid, the dancey, grinding, enormous tune dictating the death of fear, signals the sonic storm Wallace has in store for us.

Dubbed a “national treasure” (Sad Mag), “one to watch” (Globe & Mail), and fueled by “raw passion and musical power” (CBC), if you don’t know about Skye Wallace, where have you been?

  • Sleepy Jean’s spaghetti western infused Americana reimagines the sounds of yesteryear in a blend all her own. Her full length effort, Shoot Me in a Dream, released July 2023 and garnered coverage from CBC's Q and followed up 2021's Idle Hands EP, which amassed over 100,000 cumulative streams on a DIY release. With support slots for Serena Ryder, Jim Cuddy, Sarah Slean & the Sadies under her belt, Sleepy and her backing band, the Deadstock Three are set to bring their brand of nostalgia to any ears open to listen.

  • Nicole Cerminara's musical odyssey began at the tender age of 6, light heartedly jamming with her brother and current bandmate Joe. Now, more than 15 years later, her unwavering dedication to the craft has solidified her status as one of the top musicians of her generation. With a guitar in her hands, she seamlessly transforms emotion into sound, weaving her unique perspective into the fabric of every melody.

  • “Don’t hold back, baby!” Sugarmill Slim’s onstage mantra that they consistently recite to their bandmates, stems from their belief that, every show should be performed like it’s their last. It’s all about seizing the moment with Slim, drawing inspiration from no holds barred blues artists like Papa George Lightfoot, William Clarke and James Cotton as well as 70’s glam rock like Bowie, Iggy Pop and T. Rex. Playing fiery harp and singing songs about life in Los Angeles, Sugarmill Slim brings an electric show that features plenty of excitement, expert musicianship, and superbly applied eyeliner.

Sugarmill Slim’s debut album, released on their birthday, January 30th 2021, is full of the kind of fiery musicianship and glittery sass one can expect at every show. Recorded live to tape with the help of master producer Chuck Kavooras (Mannish Boys, Sugaray Rayford) the album contains a mix of originals and covers of some classic blues songs. In the spirit of holding nothing back, it was important for Slim to keep the record raw-sounding. “My goal was never to make a polished recording. This music is about honesty and if we edited out the warts and stains, I knew we weren’t gonna have a record I could be proud of”.

“I can’t be anything other than exactly what I am” says Slim. “I love blues music, it’s in my bones. But the energy of glam and punk flows through me. I’m not about to dress like Little Walter, or do my hair like Muddy Waters, cuz it wouldn’t be real. And if it isn’t real, it isn’t the blues.”

  • John Muirhead is a Toronto-based troubadour and big-hearted folk-rocker. From fingerpicked folk confessionals to roaring full-band singalongs, John’s award-winning songs have touched audiences across the world. With a growing community of over 75,000 fans across his social media channels and hundreds of shows across Canada, Europe, and South America, John is building a vibrant community around his stories and songs.

John has also provided direct support for many of Canada’s best songwriters, including Whitehorse, Joel Plaskett Emergency, and Craig Cardiff.

On festival stages or in living rooms, in backyards or on moving trains, John’s unforgettable performance has solidified him as a must-see emerging Canadian performer.

  • Devin Cuddy has always made music his way, and some might argue, the hard way. As the son of one of Canada’s most beloved singer/songwriters, Blue Rodeo’s Jim Cuddy, country rock has been the soundtrack to Devin’s entire life—he was born the same week Blue Rodeo began recording its 1987 debut album, Outskirts. But from the moment Devin was drawn to playing music, he was determined to get as close as possible to the sources of all the sounds he loved, whether they were made by rock and roll’s founding fathers, the Grand Ole Opry’s honky tonk heroes, or Jelly Roll Morton and the kings of jazz.

Mastering those styles was only taking things halfway, though. The most important lesson Devin learned from his dad was that the way a musician truly develops their craft is in front of audiences. From his home base at the Cameron House, the Queen Street West club that has long been the epicenter of Toronto’s roots rock scene, Cuddy has done just that on almost a nightly basis. At the same time, he has helped cultivate a growing contingent of like-minded young musicians to slowly but consistently spread the word coast to coast.

  • Benjamin Dakota Rogers wields one of those distinct, immediate, and truly wild voices. With a studied nod to old-time and bluegrass rhythms, his unvarnished sound effectively smashes the barrier between past and present.

Delivering songs from a deep well of passion for storytelling, Rogers’ lyric sensibility is rare among young artists. His most recent single, John Came Home, is a haunting take on the murder ballad. “I’d had the riff for about six months,” he says. “I tend to write short stories and convert them into songs.” John Came Home is full of upbeat boldness and ghostly ire that culminates in a direct hit to the chest.

Rogers finds a way to match his instrument to the guttural twang of the voice. “I inherited my great-grandfather’s violin when I was young,” he says. “So I grew up playing that.” After a few years on six-string, Rogers began tuning his tenor guitar like a fiddle. “Tenors are neat because they were only popular for a short time in the 1920s. I’ve played about two-hundred shows on mine. It’s beautiful, and unreliable,” he laughs. The unconventional nature of such a classic piece shines on Charlie Boy, where precise picking builds to a dramatic peak. With sturdy backing by a sparse rhythm section,Rogers offers a fresh and authentic contribution to the traditions of string-band sound.

  • Cindy Cashdollar grew up in Woodstock, New York. Cashdollar is an old local family name. Her great-uncle Albert Cashdollar was the Town Supervisor and the family ran Locust Grove Dairy. The whole musical community watched as Cindy’s talent swiftly grew on the Dobro and then lap steel as she played with everyone in town during the late 1970s and ‘80s, The demand for her musical touch led her to touring and performing regionally with local Woodstock luminaries Levon Helm, Rick Danko, bluegrass singer John Herald, blues legend Paul Butterfield, and folk heroes Happy & Artie Traum. However, in 1992 her restless musical quest took her to Nashville where she met and landed a job with America’s premiere Western Swing group Asleep At The Wheel, leading her to Austin. Expanding her instrumental prowess to the steel guitar, Cindy’s taste and style added to the band’s sound as she toured and recorded with them for nine years. During her time with the band she had the chance to collaborate with legends such as Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, Dolly Parton and Lyle Lovett, among others, and won five Grammys.

Upon leaving AATW to once again engage in a wider variety of music, the names of those who sought her out and hired her to add fire and sweetness to their music are lifted out of the record books: Ryan Adams, Bob Dylan (on his Grammy winning Time Out of Mind album), Van Morrison, Dave Alvin, Rod Stewart, Albert Lee, Marcia Ball, Rory Block, Jorma Kaukonen, Leon Redbone, BeauSoleil, Peter Rowan, Sonny Landreth, Amy Helm …and on and on. She was the first woman to be inducted into the Texas Steel Guitar Hall of Fame in 2011. Cindy was inducted into The Texas Music Hall of Fame in 2012 and was nominated as Instrumentalist of the Year by the Americana Music Association in 2016.

  • Born in the mid-80s, singer-songwriter Jerry Leger came of age in Toronto. Surrounded by music, his grandfather first turned him onto Hank Williams. Leger was intrigued by the ways that Williams’ songs told a story and often conjured up mysterious images in his head. Other seminal influences were added including Bob Dylan, John Lennon, Lightnin' Hopkins, Leonard Cohen, Neil Young, the Everly Brothers, Tom Waits, and Gordon Lightfoot. In 2005, a nineteen year old Leger cut his first independently released album. Since then, he's recorded 10 additional albums under his own name, with the last 4 released via Cowboy Junkies' label, Latent Recordings.

The latest, 2022's Nothing Pressing (produced by Michael Timmins) received positive notices in such music magazines as Uncut and Rolling Stone. Paired with evocative lyrics are wonderfully crafted melodies, soulful vocals and the spirit and energy of a mature songwriter, comfortable in his skin and growing as an artist with every release. As fellow Canadian singer-songwriter Ron Sexsmith puts it, “Jerry Leger has that spark in him that all the great songwriters have. He's the real deal.”

  • Albert Lee is one of the most respected and renowned guitarists in music history, having worked with The Everly Brothers, Eric Clapton, Emmylou Harris and The Crickets over his long and illustrious career. The British-born country-rock artist started his career during the emerging rock 'n' roll scene of sixties London, when he swapped bands with the likes of Jimmy Page and Chris Farlowe.

“The ultimate virtuoso. His skill is extraordinary, his ear is extraordinary and he’s gifted on just about every level.”

    - Eric Clapton

After moving to the U.S. and assimilating himself into the country music scene, Albert quickly garnered a reputation as one of the fastest guitar players in the business. He recorded a number of solo albums, and won a Grammy in 2002 for his contribution on 'Foggy Mountain Breakdown'. He continues to tour today, and plays his signature Ernie Ball Music Man Guitar.

“A brilliant guitar player. His sound is unmistakable - often emulated, never equalled.”

    - Emmylou Harris

  • Grammy nominated American musician Scarlet Rivera burned a hole in the fabric of rock history as a pioneer of electric violin. Bob Dylan was the first to discover and acknowledge Scarlet, inviting her as an integral part of the legendary album ‘Desire’ and Rolling Thunder Revue tour. Dylan recognized the genius of Scarlet’s vision as a violinist who played much like a lead guitarist. Scarlet continues her journey of expression and creativity having performed with such treasured legends as Indigo Girls, Tracy Chapman, Eric Andersen, Keb Mo, Peter Maffay, David Johansen, Sylvia Tyson of ‘Ian and Sylvia’, and 5-time Grammy winning steel guitarist Cindy Cashdollar.

  • Conor Gains believes in the knowledge-bearing potential of the open road. Take stories collected from travels, cosmic soundscapes, feelings of familiarity and exploration and you have this unique and thoughtful sound. Carefully crafting music that has landed him in the distinct world of Americana, folk rock, blues and cosmic country. Conor's devotion to the craft has built him a wonderful blossoming career. Starting out playing in small town bars and clubs of late night crowds across North America, Conor has cut his teeth and played plenty of notes. These days the music is elevated and the live shows are living proof of the maturity and rock solid foundation of a true artist.

  • It would be hard to find a musician anywhere who’s had a career as diverse and successful as Prakash John. As the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame bassist for George Clinton’s Parliament-Funkadelic forges ahead in his fifth decade in the music business, there are still few artists of any age who can match his proficiency, energy, groove, and commitment.

His acclaimed career boasts a thorough pedigree of touring and recording credits. Namely, iconic classics such as Lou Reed’s ‘Rock’n Roll Animal’ & ‘Sally Can’t Dance’, Alice Cooper’s ‘Welcome To My Nightmare’ & George Clinton’s ‘Parliament - Chocolate City’ & ‘America Eats Its Young’ to name but a few.

International lead vocal & multi-instrumental sensation Jordan John is a more powerful, polished & accomplished musician than many players twice his age. Adept on drums, keyboards, guitar and bass, he is a uniquely diverse & refined sonic embodiment of sheer talent & pure artistry.

Be it performing in front of 20,000 + as a lead singing, guitar wielding frontman opening for The Queen of Soul, Miss Aretha Franklin (at her personal request), jamming at age 16 on drums with the artist formerly known as Prince, performing as a featured lead vocalist and guitarist for 16x Grammy Award Winning Producer & Hitmaker David Foster at the 30th Anniversary of the Blue Note Tokyo or appearing as interim bassist for famed Canadian rock trio, Wide Mouth Mason, Jordan’s talent & energy excites & delights spectators as well as his industry peers and musical luminaries all over the globe.
